Autumn craft and cookies

Exciting first morning eating our breakfast in the new kitchen!
Followed by a quick picture making session.. They both used some stickers and big bee added some of her own drawings. She wanted to know how to draw birds so I got some piccies on the ipad for her to copy. She done a fab job!
Big bee wanted to do some cooking in the new kitchen, she was so excited!
We settled on making some no-bake cookies which was a really simple recipe that a friend gave to us.
I had lots to get on with organising the cupboards and still moving things from old kitchen to new so I pretty much left her to do it all on her own. I assisted with the mixer part a little and gave her verbal instructions. She done amazing. :-) my clever baking bubba bee! They were so yummy too!
After lunch we went and picked my cousin up from the station for a craft session. The bees were so excited. We had 4 little friends round to join in too. :-)
The theme of today's session was autumn so L had bought a few autumn bits over and they all went outside to collect more from the garden.
We tipped them all out on the tray and had a look at them. Talked a bit about the different things and the autumn colours.

L was showing them the acorns and we talked about different seeds. I remembered outside we had some little oak trees that hubby planted from an acorn so I bought one in for them to see.
After we'd explored everything we started on the 'big picture'. L's idea was a huge tree. It worked so well. The children all worked together, they all had a go. Sticking leaves/seeds/twigs/chestnuts/conker
Etc..
The younger ones went off for a play after a bit but then returned every so often to help more.
Looking good..
Next was the mission to make brown paint for the trunk. We thought orange and blue would do it but unfortuantly I didn't have any orange (or brown!) so they experimented making the orange first then adding blue. We eventually got there!
Painting the trunk...
And... The finished tree! Absolutly beautiful! They all done so well, they really enjoyed it and learnt so much in, again, such a natural way. Love it!
Time for a snack. Our friend had bought some yummy fruit kebabs, and with the cookies we had a nice feast :-)
'A' took 'L' back to the station after a wonderful session. The children all loved it so much. Looking forward to next time!

And finally, I was going to wait until my tiles on the wall were done but I can't wait anymore!!
This is my new kitchen!! Love love love it :-)
Bit of a difference hey?!
