Beach, lighthouse and lots of lovely owls

Wonderful jam packed day today! Woke up still feeling pretty rough but had a feeling that I needed to get some nice fresh air and it would help. Preferably sea air!! :-)
We got ourselves ready and headed off to the bootsale, a few bargains later and a jam packed car we swung by tesco and picked up a few picnic bits and headed to the coast.
It was a proper gorgeous day. The best kind in my opinion! Lovely and sunny but not super hot, and with a refreshing breeze. We ate our picnic in the car as figured it would just be easier without sand everywhere. We were parked looking right at the sea which was beautiful.
Down on the beach and some sandcastle making happening..
It wasn't long though before clothes were stripped off and the bees headed into our own private little stream! (pool left from when the tide went out) I couldn't believe how lovely and warm it was and we had the whole beach to ourselves. Bliss! I even sunbathed a bit while daddy bee supervised, and i soaked up the last of the summer sun rays. I felt so peaceful, it was just perfect and just what the doctor ordered!
Among our many treasures we found a small (dead) crab..
A rather funky stole with a hole and it had a fossil attached too..
Some funky photography through the hole! Lol!
My little munchkins!
Building a castle and moat with daddy..
Me and hubby bee!
Aww, just love them so much!
After our beach adventures we headed back to the car and started to drive home. We hadn't gone far and big bee spotted this lighthouse in the distance. She was asking what it was so we decided to get a little closer so she could see. We managed to get really close and daddy bee answered loads of lighthouse type questions! It wasnt open today but we noted you could visit it certain open days of the year. As we drove on we noticed a sign advertising a owl sanctuary a little further up the same road. We thought what the hey, let's go look! Obviously fate as it turned out to be the best detor home ever!
When we arrived we were a little unsure of what to expect. It was a big barn with loads of chickens/ducks outside. When we went in we were really welcomed. It was only £2 each and under 5's were free. The lady who owned the place told us where everything was and let us wander round. There was a goat, ferrets, polecats, 3 HUGE pigs, and a variety of different owls in the barn. Outside there were chickens (loads of different breeds) ducks, and a lovely friendly pony. We then got chatting to the owner again who introduced herself as S and talked passionately about all her animals, particularly the owls.
The family looking over at the pigs
S told us loads of very interesting bits about the owls, this one was snowy owl like the one in Harry potter. Amazing they can live to 40years as a pet, if in the wild apparently more like 4-5 years.
Beautiful eyes.
This was the European eagle owl, piercing orange eyes!
This was an extremely friendly and tame barn owl. Both bees loved her. Big bee held her for about 15-20 minutes and could have held her and other owls for as long as she wanted. The owners were so lovely and friendly.
This was a pair of tawny owls. Lovers apparently! They are completely lost without each other. There eyes were so funny how they blinked. Reminded me of a furby!
This was mumbles, I can't remember the breed but it was a 'talking' owl!! Every time you spoke to him, he chatted his beak back, was amazing! Apparently he's so friendly, he actually loves cuddles! We saw him have a cuddle with someone else whilst in there. So cute!
Outside we met the pony. He's a bit sad at the moment as his partner died a couple of months back. They plan to put the goat with him soon for company. S asked if the bees would like to give him an apple. She went off to get some apples and they both gave him one.
This is just a few of the chickens there. Lots of different breeds and a few chicks too, also some ducks!  Most of them are rescue ones so there's quite a variety.
What an amazing little hidden gem we found! Couldn't believe it. We'll defiantly be going back again. :-)

Back home and ready for bed big bee wanted to look through one of her carboot finds. A barbie tell the time book. Perfect book for her, she was really excited changing the time as she went through the book. I think this book is going to be well used!
Phew, been a busy day.... And.... Chill.. :-)
