After recently discussing seasons with the bees I decided we should start some of the 'autumn crafts' I have pinned on Pinterest. This is the one we chose for today..
It worked really well. Big bee was being really careful with her dots. Little bee was just happy smearing paint around.
Big bee said she wanted to do a puzzle and she picked this wooden Europe one. Actually quite difficult And even more so if you are like me and are a little geographically challenged ;-)
We talked about where we live and where nanny at the farm lives. (An hour up the road) she thought perhaps they might be in another country. Distance is a difficult concept for a little one but so sweet hearing her theory's. :-)
We then set about doing a world puzzle, 150 pieces. We colour sorted first to make it easier.
The finished puzzle. Fantastic puzzle sparking loads of questions about the little pictures in each country. We talked about Russian dolls, snakes, the equator, how hot/cold it is in different country's and why, Hollywood, Eskimos, lions, elephants, sting Rays, seals, penguins and finally Maple syrup from Canada! Phew! The maple leaf provoked the most questions and we ended up watching a youtube video of it being collected from the maple trees right to the putting it in jars. Fascinating stuff. We then thought that we really ought to sample some so we done just that!
Amazing how much we can learn from a puzzle!
They played picnics and when I came back in mum said big bee had asked her to write down the word 'cake' so she could copy it. Random but so lovely that she's always keen to learn everything she can.
The tea! Lol! Doesn't look much but was all from scratch and more importantly every last spoonful was eaten! Yay! One very happy mummy when there is clear plates. :-) makes it all worth it.
After tea and outside to walk daisy and water the veggies.. Mum bought over some 'busy lizzie' seed pods. They are so strange! They explode in your hand and sort of spiral open. Really weird but the children loved them, thought they were amazing!
Trying to find more!
And finally just before falling asleep on the sofa big bee is doing some maths on a maths app. It was her choice, she loves it. Little bee watches on, no doubt learning alongside! Love them so much, had to stop myself from going over and cuddling them at this point. They looked so cute and content.
Night night bubba bees!
