Busy baking day

This morning hubby took little bee out for a boys trip out to b&q and to run a few errands. Little bee was so excited to be going out with daddy. Kept saying 'shop' and 'van' (loves daddies van!)
While they were gone me and big bee got busy. We made chocolate cake and buns first, gluten/dairy and sugar free. Sooo yum! Then next we made custard, creme brûlée, 'ice cream' (frozen custard), ghee and kale chips!  Phew, busy morning!
I had a good little helper at hand thankfully, she even hoovered up the crumbs after we sampled the cakes! :-)
Our collection of yummy goodies :-)
When the boys returned, they very sadly bought with them a road kill muntjack deer. :-( it hadn't been dead long when they found it so not wanting to waste the poor creature, they bought it back with a plan to feed our ferrets. A bit gruesome it might seem but the bees were so interested in seeing it. Obviously not something you get to see up close everyday and also a lot to be learnt. One massive lesson of course is road safety! A life/death lesson and so much more.
Daddy bee wanted to portion up the deer as its to much for the ferrets in one sitting. He did this after lunch and while I hadn't planned for the bees to see this part, big bee was so keen there was no stopping her. She went out with him and watched and learned. A sort of up scaled 'frog disection' like they do at school!! She saw all the organs, heart, kidneys, lungs, etc. guts and what was inside them too! Ewww! Me and little bee popped outside for a bit and I have to say its not something I like to see. The guts bit made me feel quite funny but the bees took it all in there stride, not even phased! They even watched with eager interest as the ferrets had there meal. *shudder* lol!
Yum yum, for the ferrets!
Back inside to something more normal! A spot of colouring, lol!
Made a picture for our Christmas shoebox :-)
Little bee learning his colours..
And off to wrap our christmas present for 'operationchristmaschild'
We talked a lot about those less fortunate. A slightly confusing explanation as how can you explain that some children don't get anything for Christmas yet Father Christmas can magically get round everyone in one night.?!. What about those children? Difficult and I'm sure they'll be lots more questions on this as the bees get older!
We had some story time this afternoon. So very proud of my big bee. She read these two lots of pages and also read most of the rest of the book. I'm not entirely sure how much of this is from memory but Certainly these two pages seemed like proper reading. Maybe I'm wrong but either way, very proud!
Later making a pen holder. the 'open craft table' is still all out from yesterday and this got her imagination going again.
As asked for by big bee we are camping out in the lounge tonight! Tent and all! Her idea which we thought about then daddy bee returned with our tent. The bees were thrilled!
Night night campers!
