Forest school

Today we had a lovely day with friends. One of our friends G has arranged for us to have a forest school type session with her every week and today was the first one. We all met at her house and after lots of toilet trips we headed off on our woodland walk. The children spotted some horses and went over to meet them. They were gorgeous and so friendly.
There were several wood carvings throughout the walk to be found. Here is some of the children finding one..
Little bee spent the first part of the walk in the pushchair, munching away on snacks! He then got out and walked the rest.
Having fun kicking leaves.
After a bit the children found this leaf covered hill. We spent ages here, they absolutly LOVED it!
Sliding down it, rolling down it! The giggles were infectious and they soon all joined in. They all got filthy and leaves stuck in there hair but it was just wonderful. Children being children, making there own fun with no adults directing and enjoying nature.
Even Merlin the dog joined in..
We carried on our walk a bit further and met a lovely friendly man doing a spot of metal detecting. He was very kind and let the children watch as he dug up some 'treasure'. It turned out to be a bottle top but the children thought it was amazing!
Next they found an apple tree, loaded with apples. We picked a few from the floor to take home to cook.
We went back to G's house after and had a lovely lunch together. G had very kindly done some jacket potatoes for everyone. The children played some more and then eventually I dragged away two very tired out but happy bees.
A really lovely day with friends, they all learned loads in the most natural way. Looking forward to next week!
