A fab day today, adding to our little chicken family!
We went to the chicken auction and picked out the ones we liked the look of and crossed our fingers.
The whole place is an education in itself, it's amazing. The bees watched two chickens lay eggs in front of there eyes. One egg cracked a little as it hit the cage floor and next thing we watched 3 greedy chickens Hoover it up! Shell and all!
You can just make out here, big bee with daddy in the thick of it!
Just laid an egg
And the eating of the egg!
Bringing our cages in to collect our hens
And settling them into there new home :-)
Our new girls... The black and white pair apparently lay green eggs. :-) look forward to recieving our first green egg!
Big bee loves the hens so much, this is her fav and always comes to her. Doesn't seem to mind being picked up!
Our first two eggs from the new additions, these were laid before we even got home! Eggs for lunch!
We discussed about how fresh they were and how you could tell with how firm the whites were.
Off to nanny and grandads at the farm for a very very yummy roast dinner! Even gluten/dairy free homemade sponge and custard for dessert. Feel very lucky. :-)
Yum yum yum! Thank you Nanny, was delicious!
