This morning first thing after checking the chickens big bee made a butterfly life cycle book. She coloured it in, cut it all out and I helped her staple it.
Little bee said he wanted to colour in a bee piccy so I printed one off for him. I didn't expect him to actually colour it but he did. Bless him, he normally doesn't care for colouring in.
The finished bits. The first little piccy is the actual book, the rest are the pages. And the last piccy is little bee's 'Bumble bee'Next while eating ice lollies it occurred to me we'd never done a water/ice exploration so we set to it.
The bees picked some toys, we covered with water and popped in the freezer. We also done one toy in the fridge.
Sitting in the freezer..
Sitting in the fridge...
I done an explanation on paper showing minus temps and above freezing temps. I asked them what they thought might happen and then we waited to see.
Meanwhile.. Party hats were made and decorated, a party 'set up' too!
Next, we started re-planting some seedlings.. Big bee asked if she could have a shop with seedlings and sell them. I thought about it for a bit and came up with a plan with her. We re-potted 6 different veggy seedlings in trays and labeled up with coloured dots so we could see which seedlings were which. She got quite excited about selling them and having money to spend. I told her whatever she sold she could take and buy something from the Disney shop (her fav place, she calls it Disney land!)
We looked on Disney store website and looked at the prices of things and she saw how many trays she'd have to sell to get things. (Good maths lesson). She has set her heart on some 'frozen shoes' so fingers crossed we sell lots. We've sold several already. (I popped them on Facebook.) and she was so excited tonight as I told her each time she sold one!
I thought it was a fab business study's lesson, plus English, maths and science all rolled into one. :-) happy mummy and big bee! :-)
Doing her shop sign..
All done and ready to sell. :-) she really worked hard on this today. Really impressed with her persistence. :-)
Big bees seedling range. :-)
Checking on the frozen trays..
And exploring the ice. They were actually amazed. Something so simple as well!
