Vets at work

We sadly have a poorly chicken at the moment so this morning we made up some special chicken 'medicine' within some scrambled eggs with a hope that it might help.
The bees were both very keen to do anything they could to help 'speckle'
We set up a pen in the poly tunnel so she was away from the other chickens. She looked a sad little thing. Not sure what's wrong with her. :-(
Big bee picking some lettuce leaves for her..
Back inside and some science experiments.
First we used a dropper to drop water onto a 1p. We guessed how many drips it could hold. We were quite surprised it held 34!!
We then added dish soap to the water and tried again, it nearly halved the amount of drips. Fascinating!
Next we done a sink/float experiment. The bees collected objects and guessed if they would sink or float and made piles. We then experimented to find the answers!
One of the last things to try was a lemon! It floated but we found once peeled it no longer floated. We tried to replicate a skin from play doh but it still sunk.
We also found while a blob of play doh sunk, a boat shaped piece floated. Lots of questions being fired at me during this!
Big bee then done some of her new biff chip kipper activity book.
Outside to check on chickens again. More little grey-eee cuddle. Big bee is so took by this chicken. She loves her so much. Thanking our lucky stars its not her whose ill at the moment.

Speckle was looking so poorly I put her out on the grass. I felt if she was on her way out then at least she could range freely. She actually perked up a bit outside. Drank lots of water, and ate too. Still looks poorly mind.
She's all tucked up to bed now. Fingers crossed she's still with us in the morning. Or if she does pass on that she can do it peacefully in her sleep.

Old friends. :-)

Busy day today with two play dates. Both fab friends of old.. School buddies! Firstly met up with J with her two little ones at the park. The children got on well. And I had fun on the zip wire! :-) loved it!
home for lunch and then L came round with her two girlies. L is my bestest oldest friend, known each other since we were babies. L pointed out a good fact that today for the first time in 30 years we both had a cup of tea together!! Most unusual for us. Lol! Must be getting old ;-)
She bought me this amazing picture for my birthday, I absolutely love it! Will have to find a frame now. :-)
Later... A strange bug found in the poly tunnel. The bees were fascinated. A 'blind bee' or 'July bug'.
Creepy looking anyway!
Rhubarb picking!
And making a rhubarb crumble with daddy while I cook tea. :-)
The animals tasting it..
And finally a horse game to end the day. :-)

Birthday Brownies

A really lovely day today spent with our big bunch of home ed friends. We were all having such a fab time at the park we ended up being there for 6 hours!! The children had so much fun. One of our friends bought along a bubble machine and we also got to meet the newest addition to our group. Little baby 'I' . Absolutely gorgeous!
My lovely friend 'A' made some wonderful birthday choccy brownies for me and bought candles too. We all had such a giggle as first they promptly all got spilled on the floor. We quickly all scooped them up, brushed off the dirt and moss and tried to pretend it hadn't happened!! Haha! A little bit of dirt never killed anyone ;-). Next challenge was lighting the candles. 'A' couldn't find her lighter she'd bought so we attempted to light them with a car cigarette lighter. Then we tried lighting a piece of paper to then light the candles with. After lots of giggling we decided that we would improvise! I would just pretend to blow them out! Lol! Below are some action shots!! Kindly captured by one of our friends who then made into a collage!
Absolutely brilliant! Never laughed so much. The brownies were amazing, soooo yummy! Thank you so much 'A'. You're fab!
Lots more playing..

Time to catch the train home I think! Didn't leave till nearly 5:30pm!
Such a fun day with fab friends. Two very tired out little bees!
Completely shattered but still wanting to do her words. :-)
