Not back to school first day 2015

Special day today, the first day 'not' back to school! This year would be little bees first year at school if he were going, big bee would be going into year2.
I bought them both a little pressie to celebrate the day. They loved it! A chalk activity book each which they immediately started on!
The annual official not back to school photo!
Look how much they've grown!
Big bee 3,4,5&6
Little bee 3&4
Straight onto party food prep for tomorrow! First is crustless quiche making...
Mmm! They smell amazing!
Banner making for the party!
Love her bubble writing!
Place name making!
Little mini cheesecake making...
Beautiful! Love that they made these themselves. They are so excited about the party!
A busy day but just before bed big bee wanted to make a table centre piece so we looked on Pinterest for ideas and she came up with this!
Phew! A busy day..
I feel so lucky that we get to spend our days together, I've seen lots of 'back to school' photos today on Facebook, i just feel so blessed that we have this opportunity.
I have been thinking and even worrying just lately that big bee and little bee might not always perhaps be at exactly the same level as there school friends (academically, not practically) but I had a realisation the other night. It actually doesn't matter. They'll never be a million miles behind but over time it will all even out anyway. We are in it for the long haul. We're running a marathon not a sprint. And to be honest if we walk that marathon rather than run it we can stop and smell the roses along the way! :-)
I'm not ever going to force either bees to sit at a desk from 9-3, If I was going to do that I might as well send them to school. So if the bees aren't doing times tables or certain spellings at the same time as there peers I'm not going to stress over it.
My goals for the bees are for them to be happy, passionate about learning and hopefully learn lots of essential life skills that aren't necessarily taught in school. I want them to look back on there 'school days' and actually genuinely say those were the best days ever. :-) If I can achieve that I'll be happy.
Love my bees to the moon and back. We'll be entering a new phase soon with a teeny baby bee hopefully joining us. We all can't wait. I'm one lucky happy mummy :-)
